A Win-Win for the City of Princeton and its Employees
December 1, 2024
In partnership with Bearing Advisors’ Prevent+Protect program, the City of Princeton is underlining the importance of proactive wellness for their employees. The program allows local government organizations to tap into federal incentives for wellness, making high-end benefits more affordable for the average person.
The goal of the Prevent+Protect program is to prevent illness where possible and financially protect against the moments in life that are out of our control.
With the Public Employee Insurance Agency (PEIA) issuing double-digit rate increases annually, local governments are pressed between balancing tights budgets and providing great benefits to their employees. The Prevent+Protect program creates affordability of benefits for both employers and employees.
The City of Princeton is also taking advantage of an aspect of the program that focuses on the mental health of first responders. Research shows that more first responders die from suicide than in the line of duty, and support for their mental health requires a specialized approach.
City Manager Mike Webb emphasized the win-win nature of the program. “When I learned about this opportunity to expand benefits without negatively affecting the city’s budget or employees’ take-home pay, I knew this was a great solution for Princeton.”
Endorsed by the West Virginia Municipal League, the Prevent+Protect program aims to help citizens all across the state through partnerships with the leaders of our towns, cities, counties, and school boards.
